welcome to my blog

2021 was such an amazing year for weddings and engagement sessions! We were able to work with some wonderful couples and get to spend many hours at their side through this very special season in their lives. I always joke with couples that Zack and I (and now Angelica as well) will be spending more time with them on their wedding day than they will spend with each other, but it is actually true! Choosing a wedding photographer is so important and couples need to choose someone who they actually enjoy their company.
On that note, this year numerous couples chose to spend time with us! Beau and Amber looked like models as we photographed their engagement session overlooking the Sweetwater Reservoir at Sweetwater Summit Regional Park. We almost stepped on a rattlesnake, but other than that we really had a marvelous time getting to know these two! Austin and Caroline also chose a country setting for their engagement session at the Sweetwater River Bridge in Rancho San Diego. These two were so sweet and so full of giggles! I am sure their faces must have hurt at the end of their session because of the nonstop smiling!
Christine and Charlie and Ezzie and James chose a very different location, the beach! Christine and Charlie picked Coronado which I completely understand because I just love the sand dunes and the hotel and apparently they do as well. After many years of being apart and then rekindling their flame, this session was a celebration of their relationship and their victory in overcoming so much in order to be together. After their engagement session we continued the celebration by going out to dinner on Orange Avenue. Fun! We met up with Ezzie and James in Imperial Beach after Zack and I scouted their wedding location. It is going to be such a beautiful wedding at Salt Drift Pointe this coming July! Ezzie especially was very invested in her engagement photos and I just love how excited she is about pictures and getting just the right shot.
We include engagement sessions in The Wedding Experience because we truly believe that they are a VITAL part of the entire process. During engagement sessions, couples have the chance to get to know us, experience how we shoot and how we handle posing and lighting. This session will make a HUGE impact on how their wedding day flows. We’ll arrive on your wedding day already knowing how couples interact, what their best poses are and how to photograph them in a genuine way! What we will learn about then during their engagement session is invaluable!
Our goal is to make the bride and groom will feel like a pro on their big day because of the great practice they had during their engagement session, and that’s how it should be! Your engagement session can be scheduled anytime before your wedding day.
We normally suggest booking engagement sessions at least 3-6 months in advance to avoid stress. As you start to plan for your engagement shoot, you will need to start brainstorming about location ideas. We LOVE it when couples pick a location that is special or sentimental to them in some way! If you can’t think of anywhere specific that you would like to shoot, we can help you decide on a location. As long as the light is great, we can make ANY location look awesome! We shoot in the country, in the city, on college campuses, at iconic locations like Balboa Park and the beach! Do not shy away from crazy ideas either! The more creative, the better! Just be sure to be on time. Since we are natural light photographers, when the light is gone, we are done for the day.
