The Tom Ham’s Lighthouse Wedding of Jacob and Megan was one for the books! There were so many special moments during the day and beautiful memories were created around every turn. Knowing Jacob and Megan as the phenomenal human beings that they are, this was not surprising! These two are incredibly special and as I listened to the sharing by their friends and family during the reception I couldn’t help but admire them even more. I don’t think Zack and I have ever heard such touching speaches and storytelling. These two have certainly had some grand adventures! (I had MY own adventure with these two during their airplane/airport engagement session! Check out that blog!)
Not only are Jacob and Megan some of the most joy-filled people we have ever met, but they are incredibly thoughtful as well! I was blown away that they took the time to write personal letters to EVERY SINGLE GUEST!!! Wow! This kind gift led to many tears at the reception. It just felt like every time I turned around, there was another special, loving touch added to the wedding. Another beautiful gesture was that Megan redesigned her mother’s wedding dress! She surprised her with the finished product during the reception and it was wonderful to see her mother’s reaction. Such a beautiful family.
It wasn’t just Megan and Jacob who generously showed their love during this wedding. Family and friends’s adoration for this couple was on full display. For instance, the stepfather of the groom is a retired firefighter and he secretly asked the Harbor Police to position their boats off of the venue in the bay. At the end of the ceremony, the signal was given and the waterworks began! Beautiful spouts of water filled the air from two boats as the Jacob and Megan were pronounced husband and wife.
Lastly, the bridesmaids were not to be outdone by the Harbor Police! During this incredibly fun Tom Ham’s Lighthouse wedding reception, they dressed up and came out singing and dancing to the roar of the crowd. This group of girlfriends traditionally sings an ABBA song or two at each other’s wedding recreptions. It was amazing!
It was so difficult for Zack and I to leave at the appointed time. Throughout the day everyone treated us with so much respect and appreciation. By the end of the night we felt like family. It just doesn’t get much better than that!
Jacob surprised Megan with this stunning ruby ring!
The bride’s mother, Debbie was almost as excited about this wedding as her beautiful daughter! She was just so much fun!
This watch belonged to Jacob’s father who had recently passed. This was one way to have his beloved father close to him on his wedding day.
The number 33 was a shared lucky number between Jacob an his dad. Throughout their lives, that number helped them win many bets, tie breakers, and appeared oddly too often on a day-to-day basis in both of their lives.
I just love how these images show how joyful and fun Jacob is!
Watching Father-Daughter First Looks always makes me cry…and then my glasses get steamed up!
Megan’s little niece was such an adorable flower girl!
Tess Fresh Florals did such a spectacular job on the bouquets! Megan and her mother added this dahlia to the bouquet as a rememberance of Megan’s grandmother. Yet again, a lovely, sentimental touch.
One of the great benefits of having a Tom Ham’s Lighthouse wedding is the spectacular view of downtown San Diego!
Since Jacob’s father could not be at the wedding, they honored his memory with this loving gesture.
Jacob had been doing business in Thailand, so each of these fans for their guests had been chosen by him.
Jacob’s grandmothers were the “Flower-grandmothers!” Such a crowd pleaser!
There is just nothing better than seeing the face of a groom when his bride comes down the aisle!
This wedding was filled with laughter all day long!
Jacob’s stepfather is a retired firefighter, and so he asked a favor of the Harbor Police! As the bride and groom were pronounced husband and wife, the water show began! So special!
Jacob and Megan HAND WROTE letters to EACH of their guests! Tears were a common reaction for guests as they read their personal letters from the bride and groom.
The story telling and toasts from family and friends were incredibly personal and extremely touching! Jacob especialy has had some crazy adventures!
Jacob is Italian and his relatives went all out by making an Italian cookie table! Spectacular!!
The cake was made by one of their beloved guests! Also, notice that their cake topper is a couple scuba diving. Jacob proposed to Megan under the water while they were diving!
Jacob and Megan love Shrek, so guests wore the masks for fun.
Pink heels! These originally showed up as a white elephant gift in 2010 at a party Jacob was having with friends. They’ve now been passed between friends in embarrassing ways, or at major life events as a never-ending gag gift. They’ve flown around the world to be delivered and have passed hands dozens of times!
Another tradition amongst friends is the “ABBA song!” This amazing group of women sing an ABBA song at each others’ weddings! So much fun!
Megan gained her mother’s permission to redesign her wedding dress but she didn’t see the final result until the reception!
I couldn’t believe this gentleman did the “worm!” He was phenomenal!
Megan asked Jacob’s cousins to dress up as sharks and surprise him during the reception. This was so funny! Everyone wanted to dance with a shark! Since they are world travelers and divers, this was very appropriate.
