Living in San Diego has to be one of the biggest blessings in my life! We have access to the beach, the mountains AND the desert! I could drive around and see all of them in less than a day. One of those lovely locations in our county is Batiquitos Lagoon and I have always wanted to shoot there. So, when Clarissa mentioned that the lagoon was close to her house in North County and would be perfect for a family photo session, I jumped at the opportunity. The walk around the lagoon is lovely with pampas grasses, purple flowers, waterfowl, and a cute little bridge. The only drawback was the marine layer. Every San Diegan knows about the marine layer. Not always our best friend.
However, the joy that eminated from this sweet family made the gloomy day a little sunnier! Zack and I met Clarissa and Dan at a wedding we photographed last year at the San Diego Mission and The Guild Hotel. Clarissa was a bridesmaid and just the sweetest person at the wedding. No wonder the bride loves her so much! The are actually so much alike that it is very evident how they could become such great friends. Both Clarissa and Kiyomi are incredibly kind, gentle, and very engaging. It’s too bad that Kiyomi lives in Austin! I would want to hang out with these two all of the time if I could.
As we walked around Batiquitos Lagoon, it was heartwarming to see that the kids felt so at home with my husband Zack that they let him pull them in the wagon! It seemed like such a treat for them and he was adorable about it too. This is why we are photographers, we love to spend time with people and we truly meet some amazing humans! These sweet, sweet kiddos were so fun to photograph and spend time with. Listening to their giggles brought so many fond memories of our two girls who are all grown up now. They just reminded me how much I am looking forward to grandchildren!
