From the moment I read Tali’s responses on her questionnaire, I knew I was going to LOVE her! She is spunky, funny, and endearing! How could I not love someone who wrote, “I took to Yelp anxiously and boom – something about your page just made me feel really comfortable! And your instagram is the sweetest!! I love your vision and think you’d represent our family perfectly :). Your aesthetic is beautiful. ALSO OBSESSED WITH YOUR DAUGHTER’S WEDDING DRESS!!!” Isn’t she adorable! And she has great taste! Haha!
I was a little nervous about our time together because I hadn’t shot in Marian Bear Park in years and I wanted to make this session perfect for Tali and her family. However, my trusty and very handsome assistant (my husband Zack) found the perfect location in the park. I have trained him well! I can’t be happier with the results. Truly, this was one of my all time favorite sessions. Not only was the park glowy and beautiful, but this family was so sweet, snuggly, and fun to work with.
One of the things that struck me about Tali and Joe is how joyful they are after such a difficult season in their lives. Tali was incredibly open and vulnerable with me about her life, which is something I highly value in my friends. As she shared about her preventative double mastectomy and her challenges getting pregnant, the strength she possesses became so obvious. She and Joe are just so grateful for their beautiful little boy Ezra that all of their challenges have been worth it. Even though his birth was tramatic and Tali had some serious complications, the light he has provided in their lives has made the journey worth every second. Not only that, but Tali became a doubla, volunteering her time to help others have an amazing birth story!
Listen to how amazing she and Joe are. She told me, “I had to get a double mastectomy which led to multiple horrific surgeries and complications. After that we tried to start our family and ultimately suffered multiple miscarriages, including a very traumatic ectopic pregnancy. We did IVF which failed and was just years of trauma. Ezra is absolutely our little miracle baby that the doctors told us we’d likely never get. The birth was incredibly traumatic and I was in the ICU for days after. My favorite thing in our house is a framed painting in his nursery that says ‘no one ever wanted anything more than we wanted you.’ It’s just so true. He is an absolute dream no matter how hard and exhausting parenting is. I would do it all again for him.”
Tali described Ezra to me initially as a lovable Tasmanian devil who can’t sit still for more than 2 minutes, but he was absolutely perfect! So many giggles and smiles! She also mentioned that he loves to be held upside down and to ride on his father’s shoulders, which was completely true. Not only that but when a soccer ball was anywhere in sight, he was obsessed…and phenomenally talented for 18 months!
At the end of our session in Marian Bear Park in San Diego, she said I was going to be their family photographer for life! I sure hope so because they are one of the sweetest families I have ever met. Zack and I walked away from our session so joyful and happy, grateful we got to spend an evening with such lovely people. I love this job!
