What could be more perfect than a beautiful young woman in an enchanted garden?! That was definitely how I felt photographing Melanie at Summer’s Past Farms in preparation for her impending Sweet 16 birthday party (see that beautiful party here!). The theme of the party was “Enchanted Garden” so using Summer’s Past Farms as a backdrop worked perfectly! Have you ever visited this hidden gem in San Diego? If not, you should! Nestled away in Flinn Springs, just between Alpine and El Cajon, this is the perfect place to come and enjoy an afternoon with friends and family. Beautiful gardens, friendly staff, cute chickens, precious home decor and soap stores, and the best lavendar lemonade I have ever had. Definitely worth the trip!
This is also one of my favorite places to shoot because I get to spend quality time with my client/friends in beautiful and relaxed environment. Getting to know Melanie and her mother was such an honor! I love how much they value photography and how easy and fun it was to work with them. I had met them once before at a previous quinceanera and was so honored they asked me to be a part of this special season in their lives.
Having Mel’s friends in attendance was also a treat! What I love most is their commeraderie and willingness to support each other. High school can be such a challenging time, full of insecurities, uncertainties, disappointments, and hopes for the future and these girls seem to be there for each other to support each other through it all. I loved my high school years but it was difficult to watch my own children navigate those waters successfully. I am sure Mel’s mom, Heidi is grateful that her daughter has a core group of friends to help carry her through these years and into adulthood.
