welcome to my blog

Zack and I had never met Tumi and Lexi before our session together, but by the time we were done walking around Balboa Park together, they practically felt like old friends. They are both so warm, joyful, and full of life! It’s no surprise that they are attracted to one another because they are both such lovely people and so easy to talk to. Lexi had sent me pictures of the two of them before their Balboa Park Engagement session so I would be able to recognize them, but I was still struck by their beauty when they arrived. As our time progressed, I realized that they were just as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside. What a blessing to get to know them!
One really amazing thing that I didn’t realize until just before their session is that Tumi is a professional soccer player! He is a forward for the San Diego Loyals! I mentioned this to a friend later that week and they noted that they had seen him play and that he, “flies like the wind!” I don’t doubt it! He mentioned to us that people have compared him to Sam in the TV series “Ted Lasso.” Not only are he and the fictional character Sam from Africa (Tumi is South African) but from our time together he he definitely resembles Sam because be is kind, friendly, and incredibly positive. Lexi told me that this is basically what she loves most about him as well. She remarked, “I just love everything about him. He’s one of the best people I’ve ever met. He just has all these amazing qualities. He’s patient, positive, kind, and loyal.” I only spent a couple of hours with him, but I have no problem believing her!
One of the things that is so wonderful about shooting engagement sessions is that you get a little peek into other people’s lives, really wonderful people actually. Zack and I couldn’t help but smile and laugh along with them as they snuggles and giggled their way through their session. They seem so well matched for one another and they are so blessed that Lexi’s best friend and one of Tumi’s friends from college are brother and sister because that’s how they met! Although they didn’t speak a word to one another the first time they met, they can’t imagine a life without each other now. Not only that, but they share this wonderful new life with two fur babies!
I am sure it is impossible to spend any time with Lexi and Tumi and not hear about their “child” Suede who is their Doberman. She and her new sister Ocean are both “foster-fails!” This says a lot about this couple because they were willing to take in fosters and that they had so much love to share that they kept two of them! Adopting Ocean was even a part of Tumi’s proposal! He surprised Lexi with the adoption when he proposed. Now they are a family of four and loving it!
Tumi and Lexi are planning to get married in Central Florida, partially so that her family from Michigan and his family from South Africa can meet in a more central location. Being next to Disney World doesn’t hurt either! They plan to have a little family vacation involving the parks during this time as well. What a great way for the families to get to know each other! Lexi spent a month with Tumi and his family in South Africa and she can’t wait to see them again. I have no doubt this is going to be a spectacular celebration of the union of two amazing people. If their families are anything like they are, Tumi and Lexi’s wedding is going to be a phenomenally joyous event. Congratulations you two!
