Being a part of a San Diego Fall Mini Session is fast and furious…and FUN! I always look forward to Fall because I get to spend time with old friends and make new ones. Even though we only spend twenty minutes together at a time, we accomplish so much! Mini sessions are such a great opportunity for families, especially those with small children. Since sessions are short, children don’t get as tired and husbands don’t get as overwhelmed! Haha!
Marian Bear Memorial Park is such a beautiful location in San Diego for mini sessions! During the Fall the sycamore tree leaves turn bright orange and yellow and make portriats light up. When the proper directions are given to clients, this is an easy location to find and the places to shoot are close to the parking lot. There is also a lovely little pond down a dirt pathway for those who want full, 90-minute sessions. Here is another Marian Bear family portrait session, so that the beauty of the park can be seen even more.
Planning a San Diego Fall Mini Session
If you are a photographer planning for mini sessions, there are a few key elements that will make your sessions run smoothly.
Choose a location that is simple to find. If clients have to walk a long distance or if the location is difficult to find, clients may miss their session.
Create a spreadsheet like a Google Doc so you can keep track of who signs up for which time.
Schedule sessions for twenty minutes at a time with five minutes separating each session.
Don’t schedule your last session up until sunset. Stop sessions about a half an hour before sunset. Otherwise, sessions may be have to be taken in the dark.
Educate your clients from the very beginnning. If you have a Style Guide with directions on how to dress, how to prep, and what to expect, your sessions will run much more spoothly.
