Beau and Amber’s wedding was so lovely! It was a perfect October day in San Diego and La Jolla never disappoints with its sunshine and turquoise waters. We are all so blessed to live in this amazing city! The venue they chose was also beautiful. The Cuvier Club was such a wonderful place to have a ceremony and a reception in one place and their outdoor garden ceremony was so pretty with the bougainvilleas blocking out the public and keeping their family and friends close. In that courtyard Beau and Amber became a family, as Beau not only became a husband but also a father to two beautiful young women. Tears filled his eyes as he saw his lovely bride walking down the aisle and tears filled one of his soon-to-be daughter’s eyes as she watched him promise to love her mother forever.
What really stood out to Zack and I about this wedding was how close Beau and Amber were to their family. To see this you didn’t need to look farther than their birdal party. Amber had two of her cousins, and her two daughters attend her, along with a close friend. Standing next to Beau were his best friend and then his two brothers and Amber’s two brothers. How wonderful! We don’t see this too often and it really was heartwarming to see the love and support they were surrounded by before, during, and after the ceremony. So much laughter and joking, especially from the groomsmen of course! Not only were they fun, but they took care of so many things so that the bride and groom could relax and enjoy their evening. We were especially grateful that we could leave the venue for a short time to get down to the beautiful La Jolla cliffs and take some sunset pictures! How wonderful to know you can leave for a moment and that the party if going fine becuase you left people who truly love you in charge!
During the reception the family support continued as Amber’s grandmother played a central role all evening. She opened the dinner with a prayer and then was on the dance floor for a good portion of the evening, dancing with several different family members who were obviously honored to have her attention. Another impressive thing about this family was the fact that even though Amber’s father had passed on when she was a young woman, and even though Beau’s parents were not still married to each other, the love and joy during the evening was in no way affected. This family genuinely loved each other and took care of each other, accepting each other and celebrating together. This was easily seen as Amber’s brother walked her down the aisle and had a special dance with her, as Beau’s father and mother interacted joyfully and as they each found a way to make Beau know how much they loved him through a loving speach by his father and an emotional dance with his mother. Beau’s stepfather was quite the life of the party as well! What a blessing for Zack and I to have spent time with this amazing family! Thank you Beau and Amber for welcoming us to be a part of your special day and for treating us like family as well.
