Do you love the movie “The Notebook?” I sure do! I ALSO loved this fun engagement session designed around the same theme…love, the 1940’s, notes, a picnic, and a bike ride! What a great idea! These two definitely agreed with my thought process on this topic because they giggled and snuggled through their entire session. Why have an average engagement photo shoot when you can elevate it to an epic engagement session!
When you are planning your engagement session, think through what it is that makes your relationship with your partner so special. If you are really into movies, you can plan a session like the one you see here with elements from a love story that is meaningful to you. If you love to camp, set up a site and we can work that into your session. If you go hiking, kayaking, mountain climbing, or play music, let’s try and bring some of that in too. Maybe you’d like to incorporate a picinic like you see in these images or maybe you have access to some larger props that have a real “wow” factor, like a boat, classic car, vintage bicycle, or hot air balloon. This is the time to dream a little bit and decide what really feels like you! Props aren’t a must by any means but some of my clients love them and go all out. Some pick one or two items to bring and they can be simple things that can make a big impact, like some fresh flowers, a simple sign, a blanket to sit on, or even your dog! Many of my client/friends choose to just stick with their outfits –– and that’s great, too! The most important things you need to bring to your session are love and laughter. I’ll take care of the rest!
Another idea I would encourage you to brainstorm about is choosing a unique location, a place that has special meaning for you or a place you might have special access to that most people don’t. For example, maybe you (or someone you know) have access to an amazing location that would otherwise be off-limits, like a beautiful private estate, family ranch, exclusive country club, or luxury resort. Spend a few minutes thinking about it and checking around with people in your personal and professional network. You’ll be surprised with what you come up with! If something seems out of reach, just remember: you never know until you ask! You can also consider Airbnb or other property rental sites.
In the end, your session is YOUR session. Make it fun and relax! Come prepared to enjoy yourself and your partner and I will take care of the rest!
