This was the year of photographing large families! I must admit that I had a great time, especially since all of the families who stepped in front of my lens were absolutely amazing. Having my husband faithfully by my side also makes these days lovely as well! He has such a calm presence about him and he is so good at catching little technical things like making sure the men don’t have phones in their pockets and the that kids aren’t looking in different directions.
Although I often know the families I am going to be working with before we meet for their sessions, I had never met Yuna or her family before this day. I was so pleased when they all showed up! Let me just say that they are as kind as they are beautiful. They are truly a lovely group of humans. The children were especially impressive because they were so respectful of their parents, their grandparents, and each other. These children were fun and goofy, but kind and thoughtful as well.
When Yuna wanted to meet at Wright’s Field in Alpine, I was hesitant because I had never shot there before. However, I am always open to new locations in San Diego. Zack and I arrived early to scout out the land and we fell in love with it! Wright’s Field just glows as the sun is setting and there are big boulders for the kids to climb on and to sit on for portraits. There is also a lot of room for the little feet to run on as well. Even though this is a popular place for photographers at this time of year it wasn’t too crowded. With so much land to work with, it wasn’t difficult to find our own special location to photograph. We loved this location so much that we went right back to it the next week! Check out that blog post as well!
