One of the greatest compliments a photographer can receive is when a family returns year after year to have their photographs taken. The Norfolk family is just such a family. Every year I look forward to seeing them and especially interacting with Brody and Aubree. Without fail they kids are not particulary excited at the beginning of our session and then by the end they are acting like professional models! I remind them of this fact each year and they look at me like I am crazy. However, before long they are requesting certain poses and Brody especially is a perfect little ham.
Behind every great family is a powerful momma. Val is a force! I just love how important portraits are to her. She understands the value of documenting her family’s growth and in capturing the beauty of each season of their lives. A woman after my own heart! James is always a good sport and does what it takes to make his bride happy. Great man! This year was also special because Val brought her mother and her brother as well. The more the merrier!
Almost at the same moment, Val and I realized that shooting at Wright’s Field in Alpine would be the perfect location for their session. I had never shot in this field before just the week prior (check out that blog post!). I must say that I absolutely love this spot! Wright’s Field just glows as the sun is setting and there are big boulders for the kids to climb on and to sit on for portraits. There is also a lot of room for their little feet to run on as well. Even though this is a popular place for photographers at this time of year it wasn’t too crowded. With so much land to work with, it wasn’t difficult to find our own special location to photograph.
