I look forward to Fall mini sessions every year. I love that I get to spend time with so many families! Yes, these sessions are fast and furious, but in the twenty minutes we get to spend together, we accomplish a lot! With families we had known for years we were able to catch up about what they had been up to in the last yearfamilies. If our session was the first time we had met, our session was a wonderful opportunity to get to know each other! Not only that, but we had plenty of time to capture beautiful pictures of them to cherish forever.
Every year I choose different locations for my Fall mini sessions. I do this so that my clients who come back year after year have an opportunity to get different images. This year I chose Coronado Beach for two of the four days we shot minis. Coronado is like a second home for me because my father lived there and taught at the local high school. I am very comfortable there and have learned to work with the harsh light. With no trees, buildings, etc. to block the harsh light, I turn my subject’s backs to the sun. By doing this I can capture a beautiful rim light around their heads. The trick is to make sure no light gets into my lens. I usually bring my husband Zack or another assitant to hold up something to block the light so that my images don’t get hazy.
I just love looking back over past Fall mini sessions! Here are blogs from both 2022 and 2021. Zack and I are so thankful for everyone who has entrusted us with capturing the beautiful seasons of their lives. I hope they know they have contributed so much to our lives, just like I hope our images have enriched theirs. I am hoping to have Spring mini sessions so that I can spend more time with even more families. We’ll keep you posted!
