Being a teacher has so many wonderful blessings, but one of the things I love the most is that I work with incredible colleagues! Samantha came to our history department this year as a transfer from another school and we have been so grateful to have her on our team! She is enthusiastic, creative, warm, and joyful. Her kids love her…not to mention the staff! She announced the wonderful news of her pregnancy not long after joining our community and we couldn’t have been more thrilled for her and her husband, Donny.
I had no idea just how creative Samantha was until I attended her baby shower. This is when I discovered her mad skills! Wow! So adorable and perfectly planned. out. With this newfound knowledge, it was no surprise to me that her nursery was absolutely PERFECT! I think this is exactly how I would decorate a nursery for a new little boy if I was back in that season of life…or I would like to think that I could be this stylish!
After an extended stay in the hospital because of Samantha’s preeclampsia and baby Jake’s jaundice, they were finally allowed to return home. Our colleague Cheryl and I just could wait to spend a day holding, snuggling, smiling at, and adoring this little man during his lifestyle session. He was so adorable and the resemblance to his father was already apparent at just a few days old. Now, this is a great thing because after meeting Donny and spending the day with him, he is definitely someone a little man should emulate. So encouraging, so gentle, so thoughtful.
Jake was such a trouper all day long! I don’t think he cried even once…and this was a marathon session! We spent many hours together making sure I captured the essence of their family as best I could. I love taking images inside someone’s home, it really tells a story and paints a picture of a family. This will definitely be a home filled with love and laughter…and a lot of history if Samantha gets her way! Samantha and Donny, you have a beautiful little family and I loved every minute we spent together and I am looking forward to many more years teaching by your side.
